How to Create a Website to Complement Your Facebook Page

Congratulations on having your own Facebook Page! But why stop there when you can take your online presence to the next level with a dedicated website? Having a website offers numerous advantages, especially if you want to establish your brand or showcase your products and services beyond the confines of Facebook. If you haven't created a website yet, this post is for you. And the best part? You can do it all for free! Let's get started with our to-do list:

[  ] Add a website to your Facebook Page
[  ] Register a new domain name
[  ] Create a new site
[  ] Activate your new domain (or URL)
[  ] Add pages to your site

For detailed instructions and a step-by-step procedure, I've created a video guide that you can watch below.

Add a Website to Your Facebook Page

To begin, go to your Facebook Page and click on "About." Scroll down until you see the "+ Enter website" option. If you already have a website, simply paste the link there, and you're done. If not, let's move on to the next step.

Register a New Domain Name

There are several websites where you can register your own domain name, but I recommend using Freenom for its low rates, user-friendly interface, and built-in DNS settings portal that simplifies the process of connecting and activating your new domain name.

Create Your Website

Numerous platforms allow you to create and host your website. Personally, I prefer using blogspot.com, also known as Blogger.com, because it is owned and operated by Google. Since I rely on various Google products and prioritize compatibility and single sign-on, Blogger.com is the ideal choice for me. Additionally, it offers ease of use and understandability.

Activate Your New Domain (or URL)

Once you have registered your domain name and created your blog site, navigate to the settings and click on "Third Party Domain Settings." Enter the name of your domain (including the www) and click save. You will then be provided with specific items that you need to register with Freenom DNS.

On Freenom, go to "Services," then "My Domains," and click on "Manage My Domain." Finally, select "Manage Freenom DNS." Here, you will create two CNAME entries and paste the information obtained from your Blogger site. Click save and return to Blogger. It may take a few minutes for your new domain to become active. You will know it's active when there are no error messages displayed upon saving your Blogger settings.

Add Pages to Your Website

Now that your website is active, it's time to configure it and add content. Common pages to include are "About Us," "Terms and Conditions," and "Privacy Policy." Blogger makes it incredibly easy to create posts, and you can even use links to your Facebook photos or albums on your website. This means that any changes you make on Facebook will automatically reflect on your site. Just be cautious when moving or deleting pictures on Facebook if you are using URLs as references.

There you have it! You now have your very own website linked to your Facebook Page. If you have any questions, please leave a comment below, and I'll be happy to assist you.
