My First Hit At Earning Online
From Challenges to Small Victories: Navigating the Online Marketing Landscape
Embarking on the journey of online marketing can often be met with unexpected hurdles and setbacks. Yesterday proved to be a tough day as I received a message from a forum moderator, cautioning against spamming their platform with links to my website. Simultaneously, my hopes for monetizing my blog through smorty.com were dashed as my site failed to meet the criteria. However, amidst these challenges, there were glimmers of progress and the potential for new opportunities.
The email from smorty.com informed me that my blog had been declined due to a low Google Page Rank and insufficient indexed pages. Recognizing the need for improvement, I decided to take a break from constantly monitoring my email and website statistics. Instead, I turned my attention to another task that had long been neglected—the care of my vehicle.
As I engaged in the physical act of cleaning my car, memories from my early days as a programmer flooded my mind. Whenever I encountered dead ends in my programming projects, I would take a break, step outside, and allow my mind to refresh. Programming, akin to solving a mystery, sometimes leads us down familiar paths that offer no resolution. It is in these moments of respite that new options and solutions become apparent.
Cleaning my vehicle became a two-fold solution. Firstly, it cleared my mind, allowing space for fresh business ideas to emerge. Secondly, it spared me from driving around in a dirty old Pajero for the foreseeable future, as the accumulated dirt had become an embarrassment among my neighbors and landlord within our shared compound.
Reflecting on my declined blog submission to smorty.com, I realized that the issue lay in its infancy—having only two posts. To increase my chances of approval, I decided to repurpose my existing Multiply website into a blog hosted on blogger.com. With 16 entries already published and counting, this alternative had a greater likelihood of meeting the approval criteria.
As night fell, I anxiously checked my email, hoping for news regarding my new blog entry. Although I received no response yet, a pleasant surprise awaited me when I visited my blog site. Google Adsense had finally been activated, with Google ads now displayed on the right panel and at the end of each post.
While the specifics of earning online through Google Adsense eluded me, the mere sight of its presence provided reassurance. It signified that my blog site was progressing and moving in the right direction. Sometimes, small victories serve as the motivation needed to continue pushing forward, even in the face of challenges.
Although the path of online marketing may be strewn with obstacles, it is essential to embrace perseverance and seek out new opportunities. Each setback presents a chance to learn and adapt, ultimately paving the way for future success. In the next chapters of my online marketing journey, I will delve deeper into strategies for monetization, explore avenues for growth, and share insights gained from the ever-evolving world of digital entrepreneurship.
